RO Plant Maintenance & Servicing

An RO plant is not a one-time installation. Filters, membranes and pumps all require scheduled attention. Aqua Prima provides maintenance services and replacement parts — not just installation.

Key insight: The most common complaint from RO owners is that the original installer is unreachable for servicing or replacement parts. Aqua Prima provides ongoing maintenance, parts supply and repair support after every installation.

RO Plant Maintenance Schedule

Component Recommended Interval Why It Matters
Sediment prefilter Every 3–6 months (high sediment) / 6–12 months Prevents membrane clogging and pressure drop
Carbon prefilter Every 6–12 months Protects membrane from chlorine damage
RO membrane 2–4 years depending on water quality and usage Core purification element; rising TDS signals replacement
Post carbon filter Every 6–12 months Final taste and odour polishing
UV lamp (if fitted) Every 12 months UV output degrades even when lamp appears lit
Pump inspection Annually for commercial systems Detects wear before pump failure
TDS output check Monthly (home) / Weekly (commercial) Early warning of membrane or filter performance decline
Storage tank sanitisation Every 12 months Prevents bacterial growth in stored permeate

Annual Maintenance Cost — What to Budget

System Type Approx. Annual Maintenance Cost (PKR) Includes
Domestic RO (PKR 30k–80k installation) 3,000 – 10,000 Filter replacement + inspection
500 LPH commercial 25,000 – 60,000 Filters + pump inspection + checks
1000 LPH commercial 40,000 – 100,000 Filters + pump + TDS monitoring
2000 LPH commercial 60,000 – 150,000+ Full service + membrane assessment

Annual cost is typically 5–10% of installation cost. High source-water sediment or TDS increases filter consumption and therefore maintenance frequency.

Signs Your RO System Needs Servicing

Maintenance for Systems Installed by Others

Aqua Prima can service and maintain RO systems installed by other providers. If you cannot get service from the original installer or are unsure of your system’s current condition, contact us for an inspection and maintenance assessment.

FAQs

How much does RO membrane replacement cost in Pakistan?
For domestic systems, a replacement membrane element costs approximately PKR 3,000–8,000 for the membrane alone, with installation labour additional. Commercial membranes (4-inch or 8-inch elements) cost significantly more. Aqua Prima provides itemised quotations before proceeding.
Can I do RO maintenance myself?
Prefilter cartridge replacement is straightforward and can be done by a careful homeowner following the manufacturer’s procedure. Membrane replacement, pump inspection and pressure testing are better handled by a technician to avoid introducing leaks, air or contamination. Aqua Prima recommends at minimum an annual professional inspection for any system.
How do I monitor my RO system between services?
A TDS meter (available for PKR 500–2,000) allows regular monitoring of permeate TDS. Check it monthly for home systems. Record the post-installation baseline and compare over time. A rising trend indicates filter or membrane decline ahead of failure.
